Qlaira Tablet is a combination of two medicines namely estradiol valerate (a form of estrogen) and dienogest (a progestin). They work together to help regulate your menstrual cycles and prevent pregnancy. A 28 pill pack of Qlaira Tablet includes four different types of tablets, each with a specific color. To ensure maximum effectiveness, it is crucial to take this medicine exactly as suggested by your doctor. Typically, one tablet is taken every day for 28 days as per the color order specified on the pack. Once the pack gets over, start with a new one. Qlaira Tablet can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor. If you vomit or have diarrhea, or if you miss your dose for longer than 12 hours, talk to your doctor about using an alternate birth control method such as condoms for a few days.Headache, acne, breast pain, weight gain, and metrorrhagia (abnormal uterine bleeding between menstrual periods) are some commonly seen side effects of this medicine. Let your doctor know if these bother you or appear serious. Additionally, you may notice changes in menstrual bleeding patterns, especially in the first few months of use. Consult with your doctor if this occurs frequently or persists longer. Inform your doctor if you notice swelling and pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, or changes in vision, as it may be a sign of a blood clot. Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you smoke and are over 35, or if you have ever had a heart attack, blood clots, liver problems, or hormone-related disorders. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Do not take the medicine if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. It is noteworthy that Qlaira Tablet does not protect against HIV infections (AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases and is not suitable for use as emergency contraception after unprotected sexual contact.
